Thousands of people filled Caboolture Town Square to celebrate the year of the rabbit during the Moreton Bay Region Lunar New Year event on Saturday afternoon.

The event was presented by Moreton Bay Region Industry & Tourism (MBRIT) and supported by Multicultural Affairs Queensland, Moreton Daily and strategic partner Moreton Bay Regional Council.

Highlights included children’s activities, Asian cuisine, performances by community groups, a traditional lion dance by Red Dragon Martial Arts and the firecracker finale.

It was a chance to embrace Chinese culture while welcoming the year of the rabbit.

The rabbit is a symbol of longevity, peace, and prosperity, and 2023 is predicted to be a year of hope.
