Pool reopening this week

Redcliffe War Memorial Swimming Pool will reopen on Friday (February 12) at 5.30am.

The 50m pool has been closed since May last year for maintenance, but construction staff found additional repairs were needed.

Work is now almost complete on the main pool and at the time of writing staff were just waiting for the water to be heated.

However, the indoor 18-metre program pool remains closed while it is changed into a 32-degree warm water pool. This is expected to be completed by mid-year.

Anniversary year

The war memorial pool first opened in 1971 and last year Mayor Peter Flannery said: “It’s not surprising that it’s showing its age in places,”

“We started works reapplying grout to tiles and replacing cracked or damaged tiles during the COVID-19 forced closure period to try to avoid disruptions for pool users.

“However, the contractors have discovered that additional works are required as the concrete under the tiles was wet and now all the tiles must be replaced.”

Further details on the pool reopening are on the centre's Facebook page.
