Praise and warning for Dolphins
Words by Nick Crockford

Dolphins coach Kristian Woolf was delighted with his side’s club-record victory over Dragons - but warned: “We can’t get ahead of ourselves.”

‘Phins moved into the top eight for the first time this season after a thumping 55-6 demolition of Dragons, who were two points ahead of them.

Dolphins ran in 10 tries, allowing the visitors only a late consolation, to move into the top eight for the first time this season.

Herbie Farnworth, Jamayne Isaako, Connelly Lemuelu, Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow each scored two, Kodi Nikorima, Jack Bostock one apiece as 'Phins moved into seventh.

On Saturday, they face Queensland rivals the Cowboys – who are one place and one point ahead of them - in Townsville.

“We had a good feel about us at the captain’s run, moving the ball well, had smiles on faces. I knew we were ready to go,” coach Woolf said on the club’s website.

“I liked their physicality at the start, real intent and we backed that up with some good footy. It’s a great performance, something we can enjoy.

“We’ve certainly come a long way, but we’ve got a long way to go to.

“We can’t get too excited about one performance … we’ve got a really tough road trip to the Cowboys and then we’re over in Perth.

“We’ve had a couple of good wins, that does kick-start your season. We have got to put the same hard work in and same preparation and get ready for the Cowboys next week.”
