Roll up, roll up it’s almost show time in Moreton Bay!
Words by Ashleigh Howarth

The first of Moreton Bay’s five shows will kickstart next week, with bumper crowds expected to walk through the gates.

Going to the local show has long been a favourite pastime for many families, who love to experience the farm animals, show judging, the various rides in Sideshow Alley, showbags (Bertie Beetle is the best!) and of course, the infamous Dagwood Dog dipped in tomato sauce.

Here is our handy guide to all six shows happening across Moreton Bay.

Woodford Country Carnivale

Show date:

Saturday, June 18: Gates open at 8am

Sadly, due to the devastating February floods, members of the Woodford Show Executive made the hard decision to cancel this year’s Woodford Show, which was to be held on June 17 and 18.

The members felt the amount of damage that was sustained was too great to both repair and prepare for the annual two-day show.

Instead, they have decided to host a one-day family orientated Country Carnival on Saturday, June 18, with the gates opening at 10am.

The day will feature woodchopping competitions, dog jumping, rides, face painting, food stalls, market stalls, displays and more.

The night will conclude with fireworks at 6pm.

For more information, visit the Woodford Show Society website.
