Watch: RSPCA Rescue Officer on wild goose chase
Words by Ashleigh Howarth

RSPCA officers were sent on a wild goose chase… literally… through the streets of Caboolture to rescue a goose that had been seen flying into fences and acting disorientated.

Rescue Officer Chantel (last name withheld) was called out to try her hardest to capture the wild goose, and was seen with a pink towel in someone’s backyard before it flew away.

On her third attempt, she was able to safely secure the animal with a net before bringing it the RSPCA Wildlife Hospital at Wacol for a full check up from vets.

According to RSPCA spokesperson Emma Lagoon, “the goose has since made a full recovery and is now available for adoption.”

There have been multiple reports in the area of stray geese, prompting the RSPCA to issue a plea to residents to report animals that can no longer be cared for.

“If anyone needs help with domestic animals they can no longer care for, please contact the RSPCA or rescue group for help in rehoming,” Emma says.

“It's an offence under the Animal Care and Protection Act to abandon pets.

“It's timely reminder that if you see animals that are injured to contact 1300 ANIMAL so we can assist in rescue.”
