Clontarf Beach, Deception Bay and Redcliffe High Schools are working in partnership to create consistent and supportive opportunities to enhance student learning and wellbeing.
School staff collaborate to share expertise, resources and effective teaching practices, ensuring students benefit from a broad and cohesive educational experience at each campus.
Clontarf Beach State High School Principal Cath Pfingst says joint programs and events, such as shared professional learning, wellbeing initiatives, and cultural and sporting activities, help build a strong sense of community across the schools.
“This collaboration not only strengthens academic outcomes but also nurtures students’ social, emotional and personal development, providing them with a network of care and support that extends beyond their individual school,” Ms Pfingst explains.
“The secondary and primary schools work together by sharing programs and ideas, so students can access the support they need.
“This means students benefit from specialist teachers, shared resources and joint activities that help their learning and wellbeing. By working as a team, the schools make sure every child has the best chance to succeed.”
Students across the Redcliffe Peninsula have access to a wide range of pathways - academic, vocational, cultural and sporting - through strong collaboration between schools and shared initiatives.
“Working together, we ensure that students can benefit from what is on offer. This co-ordinated approach means that no matter which school a student attends, they can access diverse opportunities that suit their interests and goals,” Ms Pfingst says.
Additionally, the Peninsula has a Link and Launch Co-ordinator who is based at two of the schools but works across all in the area. This co-ordinator plays a vital role in helping post-school adolescents explore and access different pathway options.
“Our schools are united in providing high-quality opportunities and care for every young person. Our educational services are expansive and rigorous, while remaining deeply connected to our local community,” Ms Pfingst says.
“Families can be confident their children are supported not just by one school, but by a network of schools working together for their success.”
Shared commitment
Redcliffe State High School Principal Barry Wallett says the schools share a commitment to equity, inclusion and excellence in education.
“We believe every student should have access to a wide range of opportunities that support their individual strengths, interests and future goals. A key part of our shared vision is ensuring strong, flexible pathways so all students can see a clear future beyond school, whether that's academic, vocational or community focused,” Mr Wallett says.
“We regularly engage in cross-school collaboration through leadership networks, joint programs and shared events.
“This allows us to draw on the unique strengths of each school, whether in curriculum, student engagement, wellbeing initiatives, or vocational training and create broader opportunities for students across the Peninsula.
“By working together to offer a wide range of programs and clear future pathways, we create a broader sense of belonging and opportunity. This helps students feel supported, not just by their own school, but by a connected and caring network of schools.”
Deception Bay State High School Principal Goldy Sodhi says collaboration occurs at multiple levels.
“At the principal level it is about co-operation, consultation and support on issues across our schools. Teacher collaboration occurs with moderation, co planning and resource sharing. Non-teaching staff can also collaborate – school Business Managers meet to share thoughts on a range of school management issues,” he explains.
“When teachers co design activities, moderate work or share resources, students experience a far richer learning environment than if the work is done in isolation.
“Students can also benefit through gala sports days, arts and events. Our schools also collaborate on curriculum such as partnering to deliver vocational education certificates.
“Local businesses provide opportunities for students to experience real life examples of what they are learning in school.”
