Singers bring community together

Caboolture Community Choir is celebrating 30 years of uniting the community through song by staging a free concert in September.

The concert will be held on September 13, from 2-4pm, at Caboolture Memorial Hall, King St.

It will be followed by special presentations to founding members, Dawn Gillespie and current musical director June Willoughby, honouring their continued 30-year membership.

Moreton Bay residents are invited to attend. Visit www.trybooking.com/DDXHA to reserve your seat. Everyone who registers online will be served afternoon tea free of charge.

Caboolture Community Choir was born mid-1995, and while the membership and leaders have changed over the years, one thing has remained constant. The choir continues to bring the joy of song to the community, and to provide musical education, fellowship and fun to members.

The happy group is often seen at shopping centres, community events and aged care homes proudly wearing their distinctive purple shirts.

The choir rehearses at St Laurence’s Church Hall, King St, Caboolture, on Wednesday evenings, starting at 6.45pm.

Everyone attending the choir’s 30th Anniversary Party will be provided with a booklet detailing the history of the choir, noting songs they associate with memories of concerts, workshops, Big Sing events, special occasion performances, and working with different musical directors.

New members are welcome to join the choir, with no special knowledge or skill required - just a desire to sing and to bring the joy of music to the community.
