Supported Independent Living (SIL) can be life-changing for people with disability, and Jenny is living proof.
Since moving into one of Endeavour Foundation’s SIL units, she has gained the freedom to govern her own life, build routines, and embrace independence, transforming her daily experience in ways she never imagined.
Now, more than two years into her SIL journey, Jenny hasn’t looked back. She takes pride in her daily responsibilities, managing her household with confidence.
“I make my bed every day, do the washing up, cook, and clean the floors,” Jenny says.
Staying active and healthy is also a top priority for Jenny, and she recently joined a gym to support her fitness goals.
“I bike a lot and go for walks,” she says. “And I have a diet. My favourite meal is salads, but it’s all about portion control!”
These same life-changing opportunities are now available in the Moreton Bay region, with two Endeavour Foundation SIL homes ready to welcome new residents.
Open home events will be held in Lawnton on March 27 and Petrie on March 19, where attendees can tour the homes and learn more about the benefits of Supported Independent Living.
Redcliffe Learning and Lifestyle Site Manager Jo Calvey says this is a perfect opportunity for individuals and families to explore what’s available in the region.
“We know that finding the right home is a big decision, and these open homes give people the chance to step inside, explore the space, and see if it feels like the right fit,” Ms Calvey says.
“Both homes offer a fantastic mix of independence and support, ensuring residents have the freedom to live their lives while still receiving the assistance they need.”
“It’s not just about the house itself, it’s about the community, the lifestyle, and the opportunities that come with Supported Independent Living.”
The Lawnton Open Home event will be held at 59 Todds Rd on Thursday, March 27 from 11am-1pm.
This home is conveniently located behind the Lawnton Learning and Lifestyle hub, making it an ideal option for those who want to stay connected to a vibrant community and easily access daily programs and support services.
The Petrie Open Home event will be held at 24 Old Dayboro Rd on Wednesday, March 19 from 11am-1pm.
This home is a brand-new, state-of-the-art build, designed with modern accessibility features and stylish, functional living spaces.
The Endeavour Foundation team will be onsite to answer all questions, help with any queries, and assist in discovering if Supported Independent Living is the right fit for you or a loved one.
RSVP today by emailing Jo at [email protected] to confirm your attendance.
