The rescheduled Cameron Smith Junior Classic (CSJC) will tee-off tomorrow at Wantima Country Club, in Brendale with entrants from across the Moreton Bay Region and Queensland.

Torrential overnight rain forced organisers to postpone the tournament, now in its fifth year, on December 10.

However, all entries were invited to play on the new date - and more have since registered - with an additional incentive.

Those in today’s inaugural Grant Field Junior Classic at Caloundra and tomorrow’s Cameron Smith Junior Classic will have their scores combined in a separate competition.

Great day

Grant Field is based on the Sunshine Coast and one of Australia’s top golf coaches,

He has worked with Cameron Smith (pictured top) – now Australia’s top professional and world ranked 22 - for many years.

Smith grew up in Pine Rivers, went to Pine Rivers State High School and learned to play at Wantima, where he is still a member.

“This tournament is so important to me,” the 28-year-old said. “It’s a great day and something I am passionate about.

“I love seeing young players having fun and enjoying playing at Wantima Country Club.”

Hawaii hope

The former Bray Park resident now lives in Florida and is currently in Hawaii for the opening round of the Sentry Tournament of Champions tomorrow morning.

He had one victory, two second places and eight top 10 finishes in 2020-21 making the cut in 21 of the 24 events he played.

The CSJC is a qualifying event for the 2022 Greg Norman Junior Masters and will again be over 18 holes of stroke play with a single tee start at 7.30am.
