Plans have been lodged for a new tourist park and short-term accommodation in the Moreton Bay region.
The development application (DA), for a 9.6-hectare block at 21 Nicholson Road, Kurwongbah, also includes a food and drink outlet.
According to the DA, submitted to Moreton Bay City Council and available on its website, the development would be built in two stages.
The proposed tourist park would have 10 cabins, an existing house converted into the Kurwongbah Homestead and glamping accommodation.
There would also be a restaurant, caravan park with 14 spaces, a shared swimming pool, tennis and pickleball courts, a performance stage and grass amphitheatre.
Fishing and kayaking facilities would be available within the proposed tourist park in facilities covering around 1162sqm of the site.
A macadamia orchard and on-site dam are to be retained and help “provide a new visitor experience, with nature-based overnight accommodation”.
The DA says plans allow “for a low intensity, low scale proposal to maintain the rural and landscape character of the land”.
It adds the proposal “carefully locates development setback from Lake Kurwongbah spread out in existing vegetation augmented with additional native planting”.
