Residents, community groups, schools and students, from Mango Hill, North Lakes, Petrie and Murrumba Downs have contributed to a virtual tribute to the region’s police officers.
Father Dan Berris, from The Lakes Anglican Church, compiled recorded messages of thanks into a near seven-minute video for Police Remembrance Day (September 29).
The messages were played to officers at services held in the stations yesterday after COVID restrictions prevented the usual public ceremonies.
“One of the things which is very important is giving thanks for police officers who lost their lives and those serving our community now,” says Fr Dan.
The idea for a video montage came from a conversation Fr Dan had with former Officer-in-Charge of North Lakes Police Station Shane Hancock.
Moreton Daily ran a story last week on Fr Dan’s appeal.
