About EJ Australia Pty Ltd
EJ is a global leader in the design, manufacture and distribution of manholes, access hatches, water metres and fire hydrants.
The Australian regional headquarters for the Asia Pacific Region is located in Brendale, with EJ Regional Director and General Manager Simon Bottomley overseeing the site.
The company was established in 1883, when it was founded in a small timber cutting township in Northern Michigan.
EJ is a family-owned company which has been carried on for generations, with its heritage being part of the company’s charter, compass and guide for the future.
During the company’s 139 years, it has expanded and opened additional branch operations across the United States, while also growing internationally in Europe, Asia and Australia.
The Australian arm was originally established by Tim and Irene Bottomley in Northgate, Brisbane, in 1985 under the brand of HaveStock.
In 2010, the company was acquired by EJ from the USA and became the Asia Pacific Region, which today continues to be led by Simon.
EJ has called the Moreton Bay suburb of Brendale home for the past five years and is the headquarters and main assembly works for EJ, with these products being exported into the Asia Pacific Region.
EJ’s access covers provide safe and secure access to the world’s underground networks for sewer, water, stormwater, lighting, electricity, gas, telecommunications, and fibre optics for data.
In October this year, EJ Australia Pty Ltd was announced the winner in the North Harbour Award for Advanced Manufacturing Excellence at the 2022 Moreton Bay Business and Innovations Awards.
A panel of 44 judges from a mix of public and private sector organisations from across South East Queensland determined the winners.
Speaking at the gala awards ceremony on October 21, Simon said the win was a wonderful way to recognise the challenging work and dedication of his team.
Simon also explained how many people from the company’s overseas offices were always impressed with the work effort of his team, saying “Australians are renowned as hard workers, and particularly when I go across to our global meetings, everybody is very proud of the Australian team because they know the Australian workers just get in and get the job done with minimum fuss”.
