After winning $4.8 million in Set for Life last night, a Sandgate woman called in sick to work this morning– and has no plans to return.
The woman held the only division one winning entry in Set for Life draw 2407 winning monthly instalments of $20,000 for 20 years.
Sharing her euphoria with The Lott today, the winner said she was in a state of shock.
“I woke up this morning and while I was getting ready for work, I checked my emails. It said I’d won a big prize in Set for Life,” she said.
'So shocked"
“I thought I might have won $100,000 or something like that, so I scanned this ticket on The Lott app to check.
“I was so shocked! I didn’t know what to do. I called my family straight away, and I said to them, ‘I think I’ve won Set for Life!’.
“They thought I meant a small prize, but then I told them it was division one and they all started cheering.
“I was meant to go into work today, but this has completely disrupted my day. I might go into the city and celebrate instead. There’s no way I can go to work anymore!
“I’ll probably retire from work very soon. I don’t enjoy my job. I was considering quitting anyway, so now I can!
“I might get a part-time job or look at volunteering instead. I want to do something I’m passionate about now.
“Then I’ll do the usual stuff – buy a new house and a car and plan some holidays. My family and friends will get looked after, too!”
The happy winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, bought her marked 4-game entry from newsXpress Sandgate, Shop 3 Ibis Shopping Centre, 11 Bowser Parade, Sandgate.
newsXpress Sandgate team member Trudy Hogarth said the entire team was celebrating. “It’s super exciting! It’s almost like we’ve won division one ourselves,” she laughed.
Fantastic win
“It’s such a fantastic win for our local customer, especially with how tough it’s been for the past few years, and now with the floods.
“We hope the winner enjoys her prize and it makes her life even more fantastic. Today is going to be the best day ever! We can’t wait to tell everyone about this win.”
The winning numbers in Set for Life draw 2407 on March 9, 2022 were 27, 33, 30, 36, 4, 6 and 9. The supplementary numbers were 12 and 19.
This marks the 96th Set for Life division one winner nationally since the game began and the fifth Set for Life division one winner so far this calendar year.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 309 so far this financial year, including 67 won by Golden Casket customers.
