Preparatory work has started on the $1.1billion redevelopment of Redcliffe Hospital, with construction of a nine-storey clinical services building expected to begin later this year.

Managing Contractor Multiplex Constructions is leading detailed design of the project which started in June 2023.

This phase will continue throughout the first half of 2024. Twenty-six user groups, involving a broad range of key stakeholder representatives have collaborated with the project team to share their expertise and lived experience to enhance the design.

The hospital precinct redevelopment will deliver 204 new beds, ambulatory care and a significant expansion of existing services including theatres, birthing, endoscopy and a range of other clinical and support services.

More than 2500 jobs will be supported during construction.

The Redcliffe Hospital expansion is expected to be finished by late 2028, weather and construction conditions permitting.

Premier Steven Miles says the Redcliffe Hospital redevelopment, which includes five new operating theatres, will meet demand in the growing City of Moreton Bay.

“We are injecting $2.6 billion into infrastructure upgrades across the region because we know it’s what locals want and need,” he says.

“Meanwhile, this investment is supporting a massive 2573 good jobs for locals over the next four years.”

Health Minister Shannon Fentiman says it is exciting to see work starting on the expansion.

“Our dedicated health workers do an incredible job caring for their community here in Redcliffe, ensuring they receive the best healthcare close to home,” she says.

“I can’t wait to be back to open the new Morayfield Ambulance Station and Bribie Island Satellite Hospital later this year, which will further strengthen healthcare services for this region.

State Member for Redcliffe and Attorney-General Yvette D’Ath says the expansion will be a ‘game changer for health care in our community’.

“I also want to acknowledge the amazing workers at Metro North and, in particular, Redcliffe Hospital who provide such a critical service each and every day.

“We know Queensland’s health system is one of the best in the nation, but this expansion, which will add 204 additional beds as well as upgraded services, will ensure our region has worldclass facilities at their doorstep.”
