The new Freshwater Village shopping centre will soon start taking shape with a builder appointed and major retailers secured.
Following a tender process, Wattle Run has appointed Tomkins Commercial and Industrial Builders to construct the centre.
Tomkins will set up a site office in coming weeks before building work, which is expected to take 18 months, begins.
The new shopping centre, on the corner of Brays Rd and Arcadia Dr, Griffin, is scheduled to open between late 2026 and early 2027.
Freshwater Village will be anchored by a full-line Woolworths supermarket, with a BWS liquor store, newsagent, barber and nail salon.
They will be joined by Japanese, Korean and Indian restaurants, a dessert shop, plus a medical centre, dentist and bakery.
“Tomkins has been selected because of the builder’s experience, their attention to detail, and because of the importance they place on quality workmanship,” Freshwater Village Director Jenny Fisher said.
“Tomkins’ expertise will transform a vacant space into a convenient, well-built, fit-for-purpose Centre set in an attractive environment where locals will feel welcome.”
Mike Tomkins, Managing Director of Tomkins, said: “As a generational builder, Tomkins looks forward to working with a fellow family-run business, continuing their family legacy, to safely deliver a quality building outcome.”
Freshwater Hub will have a shopping centre with 264 car parks, including pram and disability parking spaces, 64 bike spaces, a future bus stop.
The development will also have 126 houses as well as park and farm sections.
