About Joyner

With stunning lake views, Joyner is located on the shores of Lake Samsonvale, surrounded by neighbouring suburbs Petrie, Lawnton, Warner and Cashmere. Joyner is a residential suburb, previously known as Harrisons Pocket before development and implementation of the name Joyner.

The North Pine Dam Treatment plant is located in Joyner, this treatment plant supplies a significant volume of potable water to the Moreton Bay Region and Brisbane City utilising water from Lake Samsonvale.

Lake Samsonvale gives access to popular fishing and picnic spots to Joyner locals and visitors. Forgan Cove has been designated as a zone for paddle craft use on the lake and is an ideal spot along the lake to fish, hike or kayak. Bullocky Rest also located on Lake Samsonvale offers facilities such as a playground, numerous picnic shelters, BBQ’s and toilets, making it a much-loved destination for those wanting to have a relaxing outdoor picnic.

History of Joyner

The name Joyner originates from the Joyner family who were early settlers in the area. William Joyner arrived in 1844 selecting land 400 square miles south of the North Pine River, establishing the station “Samson Vale” in 1845. A thriving rural community developed thereafter. The establishment of the North Pine Dam all but destroyed the thriving rural community in 1975 when Lake Samsonvale was filled flooding numerous farms.
