About Narangba

The suburb of Narangba has rural origins that have been redeveloped as residential areas. Rolling hills and paddocks, as well as bushland, lakes, and creeks still preside over much of the landscape. Well known for being a great place to raise a family, Narangba has a small-town community feel to the suburb.

In Narangba a community shopping village exists on Main Street along with Forrest Ridge, which boasts a Woolworths, bakery, 24-hour gyms, many fast food options, and the always appealing Narangba Tavern.

Parks, open spaces and sporting facilities exist throughout the suburb, offering families the opportunity to be active without having to travel too far.

Educational facilities located in the suburb include Narangba State School, the Jinibara State School, the Narangba Valley State School and the Narangba Valley State High School.

An industrial estate providing services required by manufacturing and general industries has taken full advantage of the easy access to the Bruce Highway.

History of Narangba

The name Narrangba was supposedly taken from an Aboriginal term that means ridge on which the village was built.

Narangba readily attracted farmers, with soil suitable for dairying and pasture crops. The original village around the railway station had a primary school (1910), a public hall, a church and a shopping centre.
