Rothwell

About Rothwell

Located in the west of the Redcliffe Peninsula, Rothwell is a residential area with a growing commercial district.

The Zone at Rothwell is home to a diverse mixture of retail businesses, including a Woolworths and Officeworks. A Bunnings and Harvey Norman stores are located along Anzac Avenue.

Rothwell train station opened in 2016 connecting residents to the Brisbane city, Springfield and Ipswich train lines.

Rothwell is also home to the Redcliffe Airport/Aerodrome

Educational facilities in Rothwell include Mueller College providing private primary and secondary education and Grace Lutheran College Rothwell a private secondary educational campus.

History of Rothwell

The suburb's name originates from the president of the Royal Automobile Club of Queensland, Thomas James Rothwell, who in 1921 proposed a memorial drive marked by an avenue of trees to Redcliffe via the upgraded main road known as Anzac Avenue.

Rothwell was officially named as a suburb on 1 July 1970.
