Old Petrie Town is a must-visit if you’re in the Moreton Bay region. With iconic Sunday markets, beautiful, restored village buildings, museums and community groups, Old Petrie Town has somewhere exciting for the whole family to explore.

Pine Rivers Park is one of the larger park spaces in the Moreton Bay region, with many features including a well-equipped playground with flying fox, a pedal-powered train and a children’s maze, as well as a disc golf course. There is also a large amphitheatre and stage that the public can book for concerts and performances.

3. Bunya Crossing Reserve Swimming Hole
Tucked away in The Hills District, the Bunya Crossing Reserve swimming hole is the perfect little spot to travel to on a hot summer’s day. The swimming hole caters for all ages and is great for kayaking and paddle boarding. The reserve is also an excellent picnic spot and home to beautiful wildlife.

4. Wyllie Park
Wyllie Park is a delightful and quiet park located along the North Pine River. The playground is situated under a shady tree, offering relief from the summer sun. The park is also ideal for walkers and cyclists because of its sturdy pathways.

6. The Mill Water Park and Play Space
Spend the day at Moreton Bay Regional Council’s first free water park. The Mill not only has a free water park, but also features playgrounds for children of all ages with flying foxes, a large cricket pitch and a sheltered barbecue area.

There are plenty of activities to do this summer at the Strathpine Library. The library has a large selection of books, films and music to choose from to make this summer the most relaxed one yet. There’s also toys for loan for the little ones, public PCs with internet access and a variety of workshops and programs.

The Tinchi Tamba Wetlands Reserve spans 380ha and is part of the coastal wetlands on the edge of Moreton Bay. Some of Tinchi Tamba’s special features include a deepwater bend with picnic and barbecue facilities, river sunsets, birdlife and canoe trails.

10. Pine Rivers Heritage Museum
The Pine Rivers Heritage Museum explores the stories and significance of the district. The museum features an 1890s kit home, the Skyring Clock Collection of 50 hand-crafted clocks, short films about early industries of the region and collection items that tell the story of Pine Rivers during World War II.
