1. I have lived on the Sunshine Coast for 35 years and am a small business owner committed to fighting for the rights of everyday Australians, tackling youth crime, cost-of-living pressures, and strengthening democracy.

2. I have a passion for free speech and a commitment to ensuring that government minimises its intervention in the private lives of individuals.

Name: Andrew Powell

Party: Liberal National Party (LNP)

Suburb: Not provided

Top 3 issues to address:

  1. The LNP have listened to Queenslanders. We’ll address crime by strengthening our laws - including Adult Crime, Adult Time and supporting gold standard early intervention and rehabilitation.
  2. We’ll improve housing affordability and availability by unlocking land to deliver one million homes over the next two decades, streamlining approvals and abolishing stamp-duty for first home buyers. The LNP will remove red tape on home buyers renting out a room.
  3. The LNP will maintain our coal fired power generators to save you on your energy bills. We will get the maximum benefit from every single taxpayer dollar spent. Locally, we will initiate a design study for upgrades on Mt Mee Road through Ocean View, deliver $10 million of intersection improvements on the D’Aguilar Highway from Wamuran to Woodford, and deliver Years 11 and 12 to Woodford P-10.

2024 Queensland State Election candidates Glass House

Name: Andrew McLean

Party: Queensland Greens

Suburb: Maleny

Top 3 issues to address:

1. I’m running to get governments back in the business of delivering for everyday people. Remember how the major parties privatised our water, telecom and our airlines? All this did was drive prices up. From banking to electricity, the Greens won’t just stop privatisation, we’ll reverse it and return profits to Queenslanders.

2. I run a housing not-for-profit and used to be a concreter. I know what it takes to build homes. The Greens have a plan to build 6173 affordable homes right here on the Coast over the next six years. Homes close to shops, jobs and public transport, delivered by public builders for the public good.

3. The major parties accepted millions in corporate donations in the last decade. I’ll get big money out of politics by banning corporate donations.
