$4.8 million clubhouse construction begins

Work has officially started on construction of a modern and accessible softball clubhouse at Kippa-Ring’s Talobilla Park.

This $4.8 million project is being funded by Moreton Bay City Council and the Federal Government, each contributing $2.4 million.

Mayor Peter Flannery says it will be a game-changer for the city’s softball community.

“This new clubhouse is a huge win for local sport and a great example of all levels of government working together to deliver for the community,” Mayor Flannery says.

“We’re grateful for the Australian Government’s support through the Thriving Suburbs Program.

“The clubhouse upgrade is an exciting milestone for our city, supporting local sport and attracting international events.

“We already have a reputation for attracting world-class sporting events with City of Moreton Bay recently selected as the host city of the WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup Finals 2027.”

Federal Member for Petrie Emma Comer says the Government’s investment reflects its commitment to supporting thriving communities.

“Projects like this not only strengthen local sport but also create opportunity and drive community connection. The Australian Government is proud to be supporting council to deliver this project through our Thriving Suburbs Program,” Ms Comer says.

Councillor Sandra Ruck (Div 5) says: “The new clubhouse at Kippa-Ring will not only provide modern, purpose-built amenities for players and volunteers, it will also pitch Moreton Bay as a leader in delivering accessible facilities capable of hosting major events.

“The new clubhouse will include two changing rooms, an umpire room, amenities, a First Aid room, office, clubroom, internal storage and a multipurpose kitchen facility.

“It will support the club’s 700 members and ensure volunteers have the facilities they need as the sport continues to grow.”

Redcliffe Leagues Softball Association President Carrie Te Wani says the investment ensures the future of softball in City of Moreton Bay is bright.

“This is an exciting milestone for us as a club and the sport. The new clubhouse will give us the space and resources to keep growing the sport and welcoming new members,” Carrie says.

“We’re so grateful for the support from City of Moreton Bay and the Australian Government through their Thriving Suburbs Program. We can’t wait to see our members using our new facilities once complete.”

Construction of the Talobilla Park Softball Clubhouse is due be completed in 2026.
