$48m Caboolture-Bribie Road upgrade finished early

Duplication of the Caboolture-Bribie Island Rd between Old Toorbul Point Rd and Saint Rd is now complete, a month ahead of schedule.

The $48 million upgrade from two to four-lanes with a centre median to separate vehicles travelling in opposite directions, reducing the potential for crashes.

It also includes upgrades to the intersection at Saint Road and McGrath Rd and a new u-turn at Old Toorbul Point Rd and Volz Rd.

New traffic lights have been installed at the Volz Rd and Browns Rd intersection and wider shoulders and newly-marked bike lanes will improve safety for cyclists and pedestrians.

The Federal Government provided $28.9 million for the project and State Government $19.3 million.

Design is progressing on the Caboolture–Bribie Island Rd, Hickey Rd to King Johns Creek project.

This will include signals at the Hickey Rd intersection and preparing for the duplication of Caboolture–Bribie Island Rd from west of Hickey Rd to west of King Johns Creek.

“It’s terrific to see these works completed and benefitting the people who live here," Federal Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government Catherine King said.

State Minister for Transport and Main Roads Brent Mickelberg added: “By separating traffic with a centre median, adding lanes and improving key intersections, this project reduces congestion on this busy corridor."

Senator for Queensland Corinne Mulholland said the investment means “better flood resilience when the weather turns, safer trips for families and a more reliable connection to essential services like Caboolture Hospital”.

“Caboolture-Bribie Island Road isn’t just a stretch of bitumen, it’s the front door to Bribie Island,” she said.

“Improving this connection is like rolling out the red carpet for 4WD enthusiasts and weekend adventurers as well as making everyday life easier for locals to come home.”

State Member for Pumicestone Ariana Doolan said these “these works mean safer school runs, smoother commutes and more reliable travel to and from Bribie Island."
