A supernatural twist from beyond the grave

A new play which centres on a young girl who has been murdered and watches over her family - and her killer – from her own personal heaven will be performed at Redcliffe’s Theatre 102 this September. 

Performers from Redcliffe Musical Theatre have been busy rehearsing their own spin on Alice Sebold’s 2002 novel The Lovely Bones, with eight shows scheduled between September 6-15.

Producer Madeleine Johns, who is also the President of Redcliffe Musical Theatre, says the show will take audiences on an emotional journey.

“The story revolves around Susie Salmon, a 14-year-old girl who, after being murdered, watches from her own personal heaven as her family and friends cope with her death and as her killer attempts to cover his tracks,” Madeleine says.

“The play captures the emotional and psychological depths of the characters as they navigate their grief and search for justice.

“This play is a very recent adaptation – the first performance was in 2018 in the UK – based on the 2009 movie of the same name.

“The show will be directed by Sandra Harman, who is a well-known Brisbane actor and theatre professional. We are very grateful to have her experience and support leading this project.”

The Lovely Bones will be performed over eight big shows at Theatre 102 between September 6-15, including matinees on September 7, 14 and 15.

Tickets range from $30 to $90, with the option for guests to add on a cheese plate.
