A group of talented artists from Bribie Island is living proof you’re never too old to unleash your creative side, with many of the members' pieces set to feature in the upcoming Art Tarts exhibition.

Now in its 14th year, Art Tarts will return to the Bribie Island Community Arts Centre from November 19 to December 1.

Artist Lyn Buck - who likes to work with glass - says it is one of the most popular exhibitions on the island.

“People love to come and see the Art Tarts exhibition because it’s an eclectic and vibrant mix of original artwork from local artists,” Lyn says.

“This year there will be 12 local artists - including three new artists - who will showcase everything from pottery to mosaics, macrame, glass, papercrafts, fabric art, jewellery, and more.

“I have been very fortunate to be involved for a number of years, and I am really looking forward to being part of it again this year and showing what I can do with fused glass.”

All the artists will be available for a special meet and greet on the opening night, which Lyn says everyone is welcome to attend.

“We welcome the whole community to come down for the opening night, which will include light refreshments made by the art tarts,” Lyn says.

“There is no need to book – just head on down.

“If you can’t make it that night, be sure to drop by on another day to see the exhibition.

“The whole gallery is just beautiful, and there is a really lovely café onsite, so you can easily spend a morning or afternoon browsing.”

A number of artworks will also be on sale for people to purchase in time for Christmas, and visitors can also enter a raffle to win prizes the artists have donated.

All money raised from the raffle will be given to the Bribie Island Pink Dragons - a local dragon boat paddling club that raises awareness about breast cancer.
