Bribie man's $10,000 surprise

A Bribie Island man has unwrapped a fabulous birthday gift – an Instant Scratch-Its ticket giving him $10,000 which will enable him to reunite with his son.

The $5 Cash Path Instant Scratch-Its ticket was bought at Nextra Bribie Island, in Bribie Island Shopping Centre.

Despite claiming the prize almost a week ago at The Lott head office, the Queenslander is still reeling from the excitement of his windfall.

“We can’t believe it,” he chuckled. “I received it as a gift from my wife for my birthday. I didn’t scratch it for maybe three to four days.

'Most I've won'

“I can’t believe it was sitting there the entire time and it was worth $10,000! This is definitely the most I’ve ever won.

“We haven’t celebrated the win yet as we had a lot of family over, but we’re planning on going on a nice weekend away to the coast. The wait will be worth it!

“This prize has allowed us to plan a trip overseas to see our son and his family. We will be able to stay for a lot longer and explore where he lives! It’s wonderful.”

Nextra Bribie Island owner Steven Kurtz said he and his team were overjoyed.

“What fantastic news! It truly feels as though we’ve won ourselves when we sell a winning ticket to a local customer,” he said.

“Congratulations to the winning man and we wish him all the best and hope it allows him to conquer some small but mighty dreams.”

In 2022, there were 141 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across The Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $15.16 million in top prizes.
