The Dolphins’ Kenny Bromwich says the key to turning the side’s NRL season around is pretty simple and if they get the basics right a win will come.
“If we can get better on our completions and errors, then we won’t have to make as many tackles and there’s more juice in the tank … it all just flows off the back of that,” Bromwich explains.
He says the Dolphins have the talent and the strike power but need to stop making the mistakes that have prevented them from unleashing it.
Among those who haven’t yet been at their free-flowing best is Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow.
“He’s got that speed and can finish from anywhere, so if we can give him more opportunities, we’ll be scoring more points,” Bromwich says.
“We have a few things that we need to improve on. We’ve been prepping pretty good each week heading into the games and I thought we’ve turned up to the games and played pretty well, always putting in good effort. I think that’s all we can do. Things will turn around.
“Our completions haven’t been too great, defending off the back of those errors … we could be better at that as well. The effort’s always there and if we can clean up a couple of those things, then I think that will go towards us getting a win.”
The Dolphins will be without Captain Tom Gilbert for their clash against the Titans at the Gold Coast on Saturday afternoon (kick off 4.30pm), after he entered an early plea for a high tackle in the Battle for Brisbane. Vice-Captain Felise Kaufusi will lead the side in Gilbert's absence.
It’s a must-win game for the Dolphins who are still looking for their first win of the 2025 season after four rounds.
Edge back-rower Connelly Lemuelu will make his return to the starting side, having been ruled out since sustaining an injury in the Dolphins' opening match of the season.
Lemuelu's return will prompt a reshuffling of the back row, with Max Plath named to start at lock.
Bromwich will maintain his position on the bench after being called up as the 18th man last week to cover the loss of teammate Oryn Keeley.
Sean O'Sullivan has been named as 18th man.
