Community group celebrates historic milestone

A passion to help others and raise money for charity has seen one Redcliffe community group stand the test of time to mark an important milestone.

Members from the ESA (Education Service Association) Redcliffe branch have celebrated 40 years serving the Moreton Bay community.

President Jenny Hendriks said she was inspired to start an ESA branch in Moreton Bay after seeing all the good work the group did at another branch.

“I joined ESA in 1979 when I was in Bundaberg, but when I moved back to Redcliffe that’s when I got some friends and family together and started this branch,” she says.

“It’s a really worthwhile organisation as it provides our group with lots of social activities, access to education with our guest speakers, and the chance to raise money to help local charities.

“I always like to say we put the fun in fundraising.”

The group has raised money for the local oncology unit, as well as larger organisations like the Leukemia Foundation and the Cancer Council.

Join in the fun

The group currently has 17 members but would like to welcome more and possibly start a new branch.
