Everyone loves a long weekend, and now Moreton Bay residents will have an extra long weekend to look forward to in 2023.
At this morning’s Council meeting, councillors voted unanimously to mark the Royal Queensland Show on Monday, August 14, 2023, instead of celebrating the Ekka People’s Day on the Wednesday along with other parts of South East Queensland.
Mayor Peter Flannery said the extra day off “is the perfect opportunity for families to stay and play in our region”.
“Get onto the Visit Moreton Bay Region website now and start planning an adventure with your family to a discover a new part of your own backyard,” Mayor Flannery said.
“I hope the People’s Long Weekend will encourage locals and visitors to buy local, shop local and holiday locally in the Moreton Bay Region.
“Whether that’s the charm of the hinterland or cruising along the coast, there’s so many popular self-drive itineraries to choose from.”
