Four new locally acquired cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Queensland overnight, along with three detected in hotel quarantine, bringing the number of new cases to seven and the state's active cases to 47.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk says while the new figures appear high, the good news is contact tracers have been able to link all four local cases.
"In relation to the four cases. they're all linked, so that's really, really good news," she says.
Contact tracing works
"The first person was a contact of the worker at the Greek community centre, the second person is a child of that worker the third is the partner of the case that travelled to Eumundi and the last one is a colleague of the person who travelled to Emundi.
"The last one is a significant case because contract tracers have done some really good detective work."
Ms Palaszczuk says almost all current cases are the Alpha strain of COVID-19.
"We don't believe the Delta variant is circulating in our community.
"We're feeling pretty good where we are at the moment - we need everybody to do the right thing."
Chief Health Officer Jeannette Young says contact tracers have established a link between three cases, with those concerned visiting Zeus Street Greek at Chermside.
Wear masks correctly
Health Minister and Member for Redcliffe Yvette D'Ath says the deadline for businesses to register for the Queensland check-in app is just days away.
"We suggest you putting it (the QR code for customers to check in) in different spots so people don't all queue in the one place," she says.
Mrs D'Ath says she is concerned that many people are not wearing masks correctly.
"Having a mask is hooked around your ears and under your chin is not wearing a mask.
"That's not going to help you, it's not going to keep you safe and keep other people safe."
Mrs D'Ath says more than 92,000 people were vaccinated in Queensland in the past week, with almost 230,000 people registered for a Pfizer vaccination through state-run hubs.
"You must get vaccinated with your second dose between day 21 and day 42," she says.
