It’s that time of the year again where we celebrate one of the most special people in our lives – our beautiful mums!
Mother’s Day is celebrated on the second Sunday of May, and in case you need reminding or haven’t looked at a calendar lately, that’s tomorrow!
If you need a little help planning something special for the day, we have got you covered!
Here are some top tips to make your mum, step-mum, foster mum, mother-in-law, grandma, or carer feel special on their big day.
Pick the perfect bunch of flowers
This is an easy and beautiful way to let your mum know you’re thinking of her on Mother’s Day.
Stop by the florist and pick out a beautiful bunch of colourful flowers for her kitchen bench or dining room table.
For the next few days, she is guaranteed to smile every time she walks past them.
Make her something unique
Handmade gifts are always a hit with mums because it comes from the heart.
Try making her a glittery Mother’s Day card, a scrap book, or even try your hand at writing her a poem.
Breakfast in bed
Give mum the gift of having breakfast prepared for her by making her brekkie in bed!
While your mum is still asleep, head down to the kitchen and whip up her favourite dish (pancakes, bacon and eggs, or a nice big bowl of fresh fruit should do the trick) and place them on a tray and deliver it to her.
Or you can be sneaky and head to your local café or bakery and pick up some goodies and a takeaway coffee to take back home to mum!
Just don’t forget to wash the plate and cutlery afterwards so your mum doesn’t have to!
Pamper her
Help your mum relax and unwind by pampering her. Organise for her to have a massage, facial, pedicure or the royal treatment at her hairdressers.
She is guaranteed to look and feel a million bucks afterwards!
Take her on a shopping spree
If your mum loves to hit the shops, jump in the car and head to her favourite store where she can pick out her perfect gift to take home.
Tell the cashier you are buying mum whatever her heart desires, and to not let her tap her card at the register.
Get the family together for lunch
Special days like this are well spent when all the family can be together, so jump on the phone and start calling or texting your family and organise a big catchup over lunch.
If your mum loves to be wined and dined, make a reservation at her favourite café or restaurant.
For something a little more casual, get out the blanket and picnic basket and head to your nearest park or beach.
A pot luck lunch at home is also convenient!
Curl up on the couch and watch her favourite movies
If you’re opting for a low-key kind of day, one of the best ways to do that is with a movie marathon.
Let your mum pick a few of her favourite movies and enjoy them with her.
Don’t forget the microwave popcorn and other snacks!
And finally, call or facetime her
If you can’t see the special lady in your life tomorrow, don’t forget to give her a call and tell her how much you love her.
Try ringing her first thing in the morning so she doesn’t think you have forgotten, and then a second call later in the day to ask how her day is going.
