Words by Kylie Knight

Treat mum to a relaxing afternoon in the park this Mother’s Day and head along to the annual Mother’s Day Music in the Park event at Ferny Hills.

The event, at George Wilmore Park, is on May 8 from 1.30-4pm with an array of food and market stalls and live entertainment guaranteed to delight mum on her special day.

Mother’s Day Music in the Park is part of the annual Hills Festival, a month-long program celebrating the Hills District with events, entertainment, workshops and fireworks.

The event is proudly presented by Moreton Bay Region Industry and Tourism (MBRIT).

MBRIT CEO Shane Newcombe says it will be a delightful afternoon of live entertainment for mums to enjoy with the family.

“There will be a range of food and beverage options on offer, market stalls, free glitter and face jewels, free kids’ craft workshop and a stage line-up of talented local artists for you to enjoy,” Mr Newcombe says.

“Pack a picnic blanket or bring some chairs and settle in for an afternoon to remember. We think the mums of the Moreton Bay Region deserve it. Best of all, it’s free to attend.”

The entertainment program includes Taylor Wilton whose bluesy voice and quirky lyrics are accompanied by sweet guitar and ukulele chords.

Also on the bill is Josh Crawford, a Queensland Conservatorium of Music student who is also an award-winning instrumentalist, singer, songwriter, composer and producer. He was recognised as one of the top contestants at the Bluesfest Busking Competition and was asked to play a set at the Byron Bay festival.

Also performing are Lily and Logan, a local duo known for their melodies and exceptional guitar skills.
