Event for dogs, dog lovers
Published 5:00am 7 November 2022
Tails will be wagging at Pooches in the Park Kallangur – an event for dog lovers and their furry friends – this weekend.
The event, on November 13 from 10am-3pm, will be held at Penson Park, Kallangur.
Pooches in the Park Kallangur will celebrate ‘man’s best friend’ with an array of pet-themed market stalls, pet treats, and even a photo booth.
Market stalls will offer all-natural animal products, dog accessories, dog treats including Barkuterie Box, dog toys, dog coats and more.
There will be food trucks, selling treats for humans and dog-friendly ice cream, live music and activities to entertain your four-legged friend including Puppy Picasso (dogs can paint their own artwork), Doga (Yoga for Dogs) by Inakalm Yoga and Wellness, and agility demonstrations by SunCoast FunDogs.
There’s also a full live music program on the main stage all day and Guide Dogs Queensland meet and greet opportunities from 11am-2pm.
Pooches in the park is proudly presented by Moreton Bay Regional Council, supported by major sponsors Ausbuild and Moreton Daily and community sponsor Northshore Pet Resort.
Day for dogs and owners
Moreton Bay Regional Councillor Yvonne Barlow (Div 7) says it is the paw-fect event to get out and meet fellow dog lovers.
“Frenchies, Schnauzers, Beagles, Labradors, every shape and size of dog is welcome to this inaugural event,” she says.
“This event is a first for our region and I’m hoping it’ll be massive. I mean who can resist showing off their fur baby? If nothing else, it’s an excuse to put your pet on Instagram.
“My dear dog recently passed away, so I’ll definitely be in need of some pats.
“I love that events like these bring our community together, and I’m proud to be part of a Council that’s responded to your calls for more events and activations in our suburbs.”
Events for everyone
Mayor Peter Flannery has declared 2022 the year for events.
“Council is delivering a whopping 43 free community events in partnership with Moreton Bay Region Industry & Tourism (MBRIT) this financial year on top of the regular signature events like Moreton Bay Food Wine Festival, Jetty 2 Jetty and of course the absolutely spectacular KiteFest,” he says.
“This is an enormous investment in vibrancy and a direct response to calls from locals for more festivals and activities in their suburbs and neighbourhoods, meaning residents won’t need to leave Moreton Bay.
“So come on down and join in all the fun.”
