Exclusive: Sneak peek inside Morayfield’s new luxe cinemas
Published 5:00pm 15 December 2022
Movie lovers are only a few days away from enjoying a number of Hollywood blockbusters on the big screen with Limelight Cinemas Morayfield set to open on December 22.
Located inside the Morayfield Shopping Centre, Limelight completely gutted the former Birch Carrol and Coyle cinemas to create their own unique look and feel for moviegoers to enjoy.
The new state-of-the-art seven screen cinema complex comes complete with a range of premium cinema formats, luxury seating options, a vibrant casual bar and cafe, as well as private party and function spaces.
There are three different ways for movie lovers to experience their favourite flicks, including the Gold Experience, the XD Experience and the Classic Experience.
Limelight Cinemas Founder and CEO Ross Entwistle said the new cinemas would bring back some wow to the area.
‘We know the Morayfield community has been looking forward to having their own local cinema again, and we’ve been working hard to ensure we deliver them a better experience, and a better deal,” Ross says.
“We believe our unique combination of premium cinemas, better food and drink options, and better value for money, will give people a reason to return to the movies these holidays, and to keep coming back.
"We’re all about delivering a better experience and a better deal. Our standard ticket pricing in all formats is roughly 30-35 per cent lower than the major chains, and with further discounts for Legends Members, we believe we represent outstanding value for money.”
Movies on the big screen
In the first week Limelight Cinemas Morayfield will be screening the following movies:
- Avatar: The Way of Water in 3D and 2D
- Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
- Violent Night
- Strange World
- Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance with Somebody
- Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (from Boxing Day)
- Lyle Lyle Crocodile (from Boxing Day)
- The Lost King (from Boxing Day)

Fun for all ages
In addition to playing all the latest Blockbusters, Limelight plans to inject some fun signature programming and events into its schedule at Morayfield.
“We’re all about celebrating and elevating movies on the big screen. From movie themed cocktails and menus to trivia nights, sing-along screenings, dress-up previews or seniors morning teas, it’s all an opportunity to build a spirit of fun and community through cinema,” Ross said.
Boost for the local economy
Limelight fielded more than 800 applications for jobs ranging from managers to cooks to frontline cinema workers.
Limelight Cinemas General Manager Alexis Poulsen said “we’ve been totally blown away by the enthusiasm this community has shown us already, and we’ve pulled together an amazing local team who can’t wait to welcome everyone with a smile".
Ticket prices
Tickets will be available to purchase online from Saturday, December 17.
Tickets start at $13.50 for adults and $11.50 for children, students, concession and seniors.
If you’re a Legends Member, tickets are $12 for adults and $10.50 for children, students, concession and seniors.
Tasty treats
In addition to the traditional buckets of popcorn and choc tops, there will be a variety of food options to suit all palettes.
Snacks will be available at the Popcorn Lab, while Ruby’s will feature an expanded grab ‘n’ go menu with gourmet pizzas, hot dogs, Hot Tubz (topped potato gems), fries, shakes, coffees, beverages and more.
History of Limelight
Morayfield is the third location for Limelight Cinemas and its second in Queensland.
Their first site launched in Canberra 13 years ago with James Cameron’s original Avatar and coincidentally the highly anticipated sequel, Avatar: The Way of Water, is set to be the first major blockbuster released at Limelight Cinemas Morayfield.
