Plans have been lodged for 60 short-term accommodation units near the waterfront at Bribie Island.
The proposal by Bribie Island Hotel would see the studio units along its northern and eastern boundaries at 29 Sylvan Beach Esp, Bellara.
Each 27sqm single-storey studio would have two bedrooms – generally a queen-size bed and single bed – as well as a parking space.
The development application (DA), available on Moreton Bay City Council’s website, says it would use 1620sqm of the hotel’s current car park.
Units are designed to cater for a “range of occupants ranging from single to couples and small families”.
Bribie Island Hotel was given approval by Council in 2023 for a new entertainment area within the existing car park.
The new application is for a “material change of use for hotel and short-term accommodation at Bribie Island Hotel”.
Australian Venue Co, of which Bribie Island Hotel is a subsidiary, has hotels across the country, many providing “short-term accommodation as ancilliary to the primary hotel”.
