Redcliffe Dolphins Head Coach Scott Murray is desperate for his attack to click as the side heads into an important Host Plus Cup battle with traditional foes Wynnum Manly Seagulls this weekend.

Two questionable tries from kicks dashed the Dolphins’ hopes against Burleigh last weekend, with the Bears winning 18-6 on the Gold Coast.

Murray says he’s pleased with his team’s defensive work during the past fortnight in the loss to the Bears and a win over reigning premiers Norths but he wants his team to be better when they have the ball.

“We are defending really well and I am pleased with what we are doing in that area,” Murray says.

“I said to the boys after the game that their effort was really good. But we are turning the ball over and just not scoring enough tries, so we have to keep working on that at training.”

Speedy fullback Trai Fuller was missing on the weekend, but Murray is hopeful he will be back to inject some spark into the backline against Wynnum.

Fuller has averaged nearly 150m with the ball in the first two games of the season.

“I hope we will have Trai back in the side against Wynnum because he can be very dangerous,” Murray says.

Halfback and captain Cameron Cullen is still injured and yet to play his first match of the 2022 season.

The Dolphins will travel to Kougari Oval for the match that will kick off at 2pm on Sunday.
