A rainbow explosion is set to hit the parklands around Lake Eden next month when the hugely popular Colour Frenzy fun run returns to North Lakes.

Thousands of people are expected to take part in the event on September 15, where they will get showered with colourful powder as they make their way around the course.

Krissie Cicolini from Colour Frenzy says the event is a great way for the community to have some fun while also raising money for a good cause, which will go towards supporting animal rescue organisations.

“Colour Frenzy is all about celebrating life with a burst of color and joy,” Krissie says.

“It’s a fantastic way to enjoy a fun-filled day with family and friends. Participants of all fitness levels and ages—from toddlers to seniors—can run, jog, or walk at their own pace.

“There’s no timing pressure - it’s simply about having fun and making colorful memories.”

There will be a few different obstacles and stations people need to pass, which Krissie says adds to the fun.

“At our North Lakes event, we’re thrilled to offer a range of activities for families. There will be engaging games for kids, a vibrant bubble station, and new obstacles like an inflatable crawl station to add some extra fun,” Krissie says.

“We also have free professional photography to capture those priceless moments with their family.

“Additionally, our "Under 5 for $5" special pricing ensures that young children can join the fun affordably.

“Last year’s event saw 1,250 participants. We’re looking forward to an even bigger turnout this year and hope to exceed our previous fundraising goals.”

Money from this fundraiser will be donated to the animal rescue group Siberian Husky and Alaskan Malamute Rescue of Queensland Inc, also known as SHAMROQ.

Founded 10 years ago, SHAMROQ is dedicated to the rescue, care, welfare and rehoming of northern dog breeds such as Akitas, Alaskan Malamutes, Samoyeds, Shiba Inu, Siberian Huskies and crosses of these breeds.

Kassie says it’s an organisation they are proud to support.

“This will be our seventh North Lakes event, and each year we have proudly partnered with SHAMROQ,” Krissie explains.

“At Colour Frenzy, we’re passionate about supporting local animal rescues. It’s important to us to contribute to these vital organizations because they play a crucial role in rescuing and rehoming animals in need.

“We aim to raise over $5,000 for each rescue we partner with.

“We also encourage participants to bring items to donate to the animal rescue on the day of the event.

“Our goal is to make a meaningful impact in the local community and support these important organisations.”

Additional Information

  • Dogs are welcome: The team from Colour Frenzy love seeing happy dogs enjoying the Colour Frenzy fun and getting colourful too! The colour is completely safe and brushes off easily. Dogs are welcome as long as they are friendly, on a leash, and comfortable in crowds with adults, children, and other dogs.
  • Course tracks: The course tracks are designed to suit all abilities and ages, featuring easy loop tracks between 1km and 1.65km, depending on the location. You can choose to do one lap or all the laps and activities along the journey.
  • Safe and inclusive: The courses are wheelchair-friendly and all-ability events. Colour Frenzy aims to keep the main loop track on paths as much as possible, with some sections on grass. Most attendees walk the tracks, enjoy the activities, and make lasting memories. The powder is made from maize/corn starch, and the bubbles are non-toxic to humans, animals, and the environment.
  • Volunteers: Colour Frenzy welcomes volunteers to help make their events a success. Volunteers assist with various tasks, from setting up the event to cheering on participants and managing the colour stations.
