Group lands top state awards

The Comiskey Group, based in Moreton Bay, won five categories at the annual Queensland Hotels Association (QHA) Awards.
Nominated in section, the Comiskey Group, which built and runs Eatons Hill Hotel and Sandstone Point Hotel, this week brought home:
- Best Family Dining – The Doonan
- Best Mid-Range Accommodation – Sandstone Point Holiday Resort
- Best Tourism Initiative – Sandstone Point Holiday Resort
- Best Retail Liquor Outlet – Harry Brown Liquor, Eatons Hill Hotel
- Hall Of Fame (Best Entertainment Venue) – Sandstone Point Hotel
It was the first time The Doonan, which only opened last year, had been entered in any awards and is the only venue Comiskey Group has partners – Josj Jones and Neville Allen.
"We are so proud of what we have achieved at the venue and are honoured to have been recognised for our efforts,” Comiskey Group Director Rob Comiskey said.

Eatons Hill Hotel’s Harry Brown Liquor store won Best Retail Liquor Outlet for a second successive year since its renovation.
It also won the national title last year and as a state winner with be up for the Australian title again this year.
Sandstone Point Hotel was inducted into the Hall of Fame for Best Entertainment Venue after having previously won the title three years in a row.
The venue will now sit out of this nomination category for the next couple of years.
Sandstone Point Holiday Resort won Best Mid-Range Accommodation for a third successive year and will be inducted into the Hall of Fame for that category next year.
“Congratulations to all the finalists and winners on the night,” Mr Comiskey said.
“I’d like to say that without our team of dedicated employees, we wouldn’t have been able to achieve what we have. Thank you and congratulations!"
The Comiskey Group employs 686 people across its venues.
