Hospital expands to boost health care

Redcliffe is set for a major upgrade in healthcare facilities with the official launch of the Peninsula Private Hospital redevelopment project.

State Member for Redcliffe Yvette D’Ath Yvette D'Ath, the Attorney General and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic and Family Violence, was at today's ceremony to mark the start of a new era for the hospital.

The expansion will bring much-needed improvements to the 70-bed hospital in Kippa-Ring which has provided medical, surgical and rehabilitation services for more than 30 years.

There will be four new state-of-the-art operating theatres, expanding the range of surgical procedures available at the hospital.

Also, two new day-procedure rooms as well as a dedicated high dependency unit that will provide enhanced care for those who need it.

Wards will be upgraded with single ensuite rooms to create a more private and comfortable environment for patients.

“The new facilities will allow us to offer a wider range of surgical procedures and improve patient monitoring and care,” said Michele Gardner, General Manager, Peninsula Private Hospital.

“We’re thrilled to see this long-awaited project finally underway.”

Greg Horan, CEO of Healthscope, Australia’s only national private hospital provider, said: “While the private hospital sector faces considerable challenges at present, providing the best care and facilities for our patients remains our top priority.

“This redevelopment will allow Peninsula Private’s dedicated and skilled healthcare professionals to provide the Redcliffe community with an enhanced and expanded range of healthcare services.”

Works have already started at the site. During construction, Peninsula Private Hospital will continue to operate as usual with minimal disruption to the -day-to-day operations.

The redevelopment is expected to be completed in early 2025.
