Honouring the region’s remarkable women

Redcliffe’s most inspiring women have been unveiled as part of the Queensland Women’s Week (March 8-14) celebrations.
State Member for Redcliffe Kerri-Anne Dooley invited residents to nominate candidates through social media and her e-news.
A record 62 nominees ranged from businesswomen, entrepreneurs, community champions and volunteers to charity founders, an indigenous matriarch, sportswomen and service club representatives.
Of those, 21 were drawn out and invited to an International Women’s Day High Tea at the Queensland Parliament yesterday.
It was hosted by Kerri-Anne Dooley with Fiona Simpson, Minister for Women and Women’s Economic Security, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships and Multiculturalism.
“I was overwhelmed with the number of women nominated this year,” Ms Dooley said.
“This is the second year hosting this event. In 2025 we had 28 nominations. This year that number has doubled.
“One nomination that really touched me was written from a daughter who nominated her Mum for paying it forward.
“She wrote – “every time we go through the drive through my mum always pays for the person behind us and pays for coffee at the Clontarf 7 Eleven.
“She would give the shirt off her back for anyone. We were homeless for two years and as a mum of six, many not her bio kids, she is always helping my friends.
“She deserves to be recognised because she rarely asks for help”.
Queensland Women’s Week highlights, acknowledges and celebrates achievements of women and girls and their contribution to our respective circles of influence and communities.
This year’s theme is Shaping Tomorrow Together.
