Draft plans to shape the future of Scarborough Harbour have drawn a “strong response” from residents.

A Transport and Main Roads (TMR) spokesperson said 302 submissions were received during the public consultation period which closed last week.

Of those 95 were by email, 16 written, 119 through the TMR online survey and 72 by the TMR online mapping platform.

The seven community pop-up sessions, organised by TMR, attracted just over 200 people attending and 1426 people downloaded the master plan document.

Around 19,750 postcards were also letterbox dropped by TMR in the Scarborough, Redcliffe, Newport and Kippa-Ring postcodes.

The spokesperson described it as a “strong response from the public consultation process, which ran from November 13, 2023 until March 11, 2024

“The next steps for the Draft Scarborough Boat Harbour Master Plan involve considering the community’s feedback and using this input to refine and inform the final Master Plan.

“It is anticipated a revised Draft Scarborough Boat Harbour Master Plan will be available in mid-2024.”

Scarborough resident Graham Davis said in his submission, said the flooding issues of nearby streets should also be tackled in the master plan.

He said flooding of Reef Point Esp, Second, Third and Fourth Aves is because “extra high tides send saltwater from Deception Bay up through storm drains”.
