It's official: Beardy's has a new home

The Peninsula’s best-known burger bar has found a new home three months after it learned it would be forced from the premises it’s called home for the past five years.

Beardy’s Bar and Kitchen owners Ross and Lee Willson have inked a contract to move into the new Woody Point Marketplace, which is transforming an existing complex on the corner of King and Alfreda streets.

Ross says finding a new local site is a relief after they closed the doors on their Kippa-Ring outlet on Sunday.

The site’s owners have filed a development application for two takeaway outlets with drive-throughs and a gymnasium.

Work begins

He’s not sure yet when Beardy’s will reopen, with work yet to start on a fit-out.

Beardy’s Bar and Kitchen has amassed a loyal following since it opened in 2017, with a focus on fresh, locally sourced ingredients.

“It’s great because we’ve got all our staff living around here,” Ross says.

He says it’s great for customers too, with 95 percent of patrons living locally.

The Beardy’s team went out with a bang at the weekend, with live music on Friday night and on Saturday and Sunday.

“Friday was stupidly busy from about 10am,” Ross laughs.

“Everyone needs a week or so to decompress.”
