A new McDonald’s restaurant, proposed for a vacant block in Rothwell, would create around 120 new jobs when open.

McDonald’s Australia has lodged a development application with Moreton Bay City Council for the restaurant at 730 Deception Bay Rd.

If approved, the family restaurant will be open 24/7 and have 23 car parking spaces, as well as a dual-lane drive-through.

McDonald’s Australia says the restaurant would inject $5 million into the local economy and create around 100 jobs during construction.

“We are currently working through the development application approval process for a proposed restaurant in Rothwell,” McDonald’s Australia said.

“If approved, the restaurant will play an active role in the community through providing jobs, training and development opportunities for local employees."

“We are also committed to supporting local causes and groups that are important to our customers and people.

“Pending approval, it will be fitted with modern décor and feature a McCafé, dual lane drive-thru, partner delivery room and a PlayPlace for customers to enjoy."

“We are also working to reduce our emissions and energy use in new restaurants through using solar panels, heat recovery water system and LED lighting.

“It will also feature wheel stops containing recycled materials in the car park.”

The site, which has access from Deception Bay Rd and Morris Rd, currently has a fuel 7 Eleven fuel station and other food outlets.
