Literary enthusiasts are relishing the chance to immerse themselves in a series of free reader and writer events that are part of the Write Around Moreton Bay: Winter Feast program.
Run by Moreton Bay Region Libraries until the end of August, the program features talks from award-winning Australian and local authors alongside workshops from industry professionals.
Mayor Peter Flannery says WAMB is a fantastic opportunity to showcase local talent and hear from the best and brightest from across Australia.
“Whether you’re a fan of crime or romance novels, our libraries have pulled together a fabulous series of events with authors like award-winning writer Michael Robotham and Australian journalist Matthew Spencer joining the line up,” he says.
“Our region is also home to amazingly talented local writers and creatives, and it’s great to be able to celebrate their talent and hear more about their latest work.”
Mayor Flannery says local authors including Sean Jacobs, Stella Quinn and Jack Roney will share their stories and speak about their latest books as part of WAMB.
Learn new skills
“This program showcases how our libraries continue to be a hub of creativity, delivering high quality, free programs at a time when many families in the region are looking for ways they can enjoy themselves without breaking the bank.”
The Winter Feast also offers the opportunity to learn or develop new skills through a range of workshops delivered by industry professionals, including podcasting, screenwriting and uncovering the art of Young Adult fiction writing.
|“The Write Around Moreton Bay program has been inspiring local writers and authors for over a decade, helping to develop the skills of emerging writers across the region through a wide range of workshops and writing seminars,” Mayor Flannery says.|
“These events and workshops are the perfect way to encourage thought-provoking discussions and kindle your creative side while you keep cosy during winter and beyond.”
Write Around Moreton Bay: Winter Feast is on until August 31, with events across Moreton Bay Region Libraries.
All events are free, but bookings are required. Find out more here.
