Bray Park–Strathpine ANZAC Day services will march on with funding from Moreton Bay City Council.
Council has approved a grant of $4000 per annum for three years for the sub-branch to support its ANZAC commemorations.
There will also be Council support getting permits and approvals, event promotion and beautification for the service locations.
“ANZAC Day is an important national occasion commemorating the significant contributions and sacrifices of past and present, service men and women, and their families,” Acting Mayor Jodie Shipway said.
“Receiving continued funding as part of Council’s grant program will enable the Bray Park-Strathpine RSL Sub-Branch to continue to deliver ANZAC Day services to the community with Council’s support.
Spirit lives on
“It's one of the most meaningful ways Council can help community groups and organisations deliver important events, like ANZAC Day services, in our city.”
Cr Jim Moloney (Division 8) said Council is “proud” to support the RSL so “families can continue to come together, reflect and ensure the ANZAC spirit lives on”.
Daniel Grono, President of Bray Park-Strathpine RSL Sub-Branch, said accessing grant funding "allows us to keep the ANZAC spirit and memories of the men, women and animals who served, alive for generations to come.”
Council will apply a 3 per cent increase to the multi-year grant to recognise the rising operational costs of community organisations.
