There will be a sea of green at this year’s Jetty 2 Jetty Fun Run with more than 80 Kindred staff and family members running, jogging and walking.
It’s part of their healthy lifestyle focus and a long-standing commitment to the event.
Kindred CEO and founder Josh Kindred says he ran his first Jetty 2 Jetty about 10 years ago and usually competes in the half-marathon each year. Kindred is sponsoring this year’s half-marathon.
“Our organisation is really big on balancing life, health and lifestyle so we do a stack of different health-related things every week,” he says.
“We provide three, free set fitness programs for team members to participate in which include Tuesday morning Zoom fitness, Wednesday afternoon functional fitness class and a Thursday afternoon YOGA class.
“These classes are run professionally with a partnership with Angie and her team at Active sisters.
“When the opportunity came up to be involved with the Jetty 2 Jetty race this year, we jumped at it. Our leadership team made the decisions that the best way we could maximise our investment would be to involve our team members and family members in the event.”
Keen to be involved
The response has been enthusiastic with more than 80 staff and family members – from babies to parents and aunties and uncles - registering across all race distances.
“We can’t wait to see the sea of green Kindred shirts and happy faces on the day,” Josh says.
“It’s a great event locally that brings people out and it’s a beautiful place to run and do training every week.”
He says supporting Jetty 2 Jetty matched his company’s culture and he’s proud of how his team has embraced it.
“They’re always committed to it and it’s good they can rely on each other,” he says.
“It’s great to spend time with each other’s family and kids, so that’s a really good part of it as well.”
Josh says while the half-marathon is always a challenge, he enjoys taking part.
“It’s a really good vibe. For people who don’t exercise or run regularly … many say it’s the best thing and they wish they did it all the time. It’s a good wake-up call for some people as well,” he says.
Healthy spirit of competition
There are some team members who are taking the half-marathon and 10km races quite seriously, with team pride a factor.
Kindred employees are allocated a ‘house team’ when they join the company - Sharks, Hawks, Snakes or Kangaroos. Each J2J team member and their family members will earn points for their Kindred team houses by entering and finishing the race.
How to enter a team in J2J
If you have 10 or more people in your social group, fitness club or workplace, you can enter as a team in this year’s Jetty 2 Jetty fun run.
It’s a great way to raise awareness of your group or company, or of a charity, and you can work together to reach your fitness goals and have some fun.
