Plans have been lodged for a new 296-bed student accommodation building in Petrie.
The development application, submitted to Moreton Bay City Council, is for an eight-storey building at 1 Young St.
If approved, it would comprise 162 units with 212 beds in dormitories and 84 in studios. There would be two basement levels of parking for 52 cars.
Covering 7250sqm of the block, this student accommodation would also have 125 bicycle and 40 e-scooter parks.

The development would be just across Anzac Ave from The Mill at Moreton Bay, where the new University of the Sunshine Coast (UniSC) is being built.
It is described in the application as “an opportunity to address purpose-built housing options for students in walking distance to Petrie campus”.
Stage two of UniSC's new Moreton Bay campus is taking shape. Construction of three new buildings at Petrie is well under way and due to finish this year.
It includes more teaching and learning spaces, research laboratories, event area, student gym, sports hall, sports science centre, student hub, breakout spaces, outdoor areas and car parking.
