The North Lakes sports timing company was joint winner of the Solar Bollard Lighting Exporting Excellence Award, with EJ Australia.

ONETIME, which has a staff of nine, impressed judges with its lightweight, portable, automated timing device and software.

It is in demand for mass participation sports events in Europe and Asia – with ONETIME having plans to expand further into the latter.

“It’s great to get recognition for all the work we’ve done,” Chief Operating Officer Daniel Nixon said, after receiving the award at St Columban's College, Caboolture.

“We’ve spent a lot of time getting our brand out into other countries.

“We’ve got a few services throughout the UK and South-East Asia - we’re starting to spread out through Europe as well.

ONETIME COO Daniel Nixon and CEO Philip Almond with Cr Brooke Savige and Mike Arieni, from award sponsor Solar Bollard Lighting.

“Love being in Moreton Bay. We wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. Fast growing economy, love the people, love the events …. it’s great to be here.”

By researching its competitors’ products, ONETIME identified areas in which equipment could be improved.

This included a smaller and lighter hardware decoder and reusable clip-on shoe tags with a six-digit format and QR code for easy registration.

Also, an improved timing mat design that needs only a single mat connection and can be resized.

ONETIME is currently exports to New Zealand, Saipan, France, the UK, the Philippines and Malaysia.

It initially focussed on New Zealand, where two team members lived and currently accounts for 70 per cent of ONETIME’s exports

However, the company expects other markets to overtake this in the next 12 months.
