Youngsters in Moreton Bay are being urged to ditch the screen and check the outdoor scene with Easter school holiday activity bookings about to open.

Bookings for such as fishing, camping skills, canoeing, stand-up paddle boarding, target archery, interactive drumming, golfing and hip hop dancing open on Thursday March 26.

“We are blessed to live in a City surrounded by natural beauty with so much to see and do outside,” Mayor Peter Flannery said.

“Council is proud to offer these activities, at little to no cost, that keep our young active and engaged with the community.”

Mayor Flannery said the City’s outdoor trails were another great option to stay active, connect with nature and enjoy the outdoors.

“Destinations like Kumbartcho recreation trails, John Oxley Reserve trails and the rail trails at Samford and Caboolture, as well as further afield at Brian Burke Reserve and Godwin Beach Reserve, each offer diverse treks through nature,” he said.

“And why not go for a ride at the new Lagoon Road Mountain Bike trails at Burpengary where you can try your luck on wooden berms, boardwalks rollers, dirt jumps and tabletops.

“Whether you’re on foot or using some pedal power, there’s plenty to try your hand at in Moreton Bay these holidays.”

Council will also be celebrating Queensland Youth Week in the school holidays with unique activities including Youth Reformer Pilates, Youth Strength and Conditioning, HIIT for Youth, Zumba Dance Fitness and a Teen Girl Crew program at Deception Bay.

All Active Holidays activities offered by City of Moreton Bay are free or just $5.
