Police reward community spirit

Two girls who helped with the Caboolture Police Christmas toy run have been treated to a visit with some special officers.
Moreton District community engagement officer Senior Constable Jo Arthur says Samara has been donating gifts to the toy run with money she’s raised to help her community since she was 12 in 2020.
“That year, Samara purchased a lot of toys with her money and gave them to us for our Christmas toy run here in Caboolture,” Sen-Constable Arthur says.
“That year was the first that she came out with us to deliver the presents to the streets.
“This past Christmas was her fourth, and she will be back again at the end of the year.
“This year she bought along her best friend, Kitty.”
Sen-Constable Arthur says Samara saves money from her job and with a little bit of help from her mum, Jo, they have donated hundreds of presents in the past four years.
“(Last week) we took Samara and Kitty to see some special officers they really, really wanted to see – our police dogs."
Kaos makes his mark
“Sergeant (Jason) Austin and his team took time out of their training to show Samara and Kitty three of our current working police dogs, but retired dog Kaos stole the show.
“Kaos is now 12-years-old and is still a very big part of Senior Constable (Jim) Griffiths family along with his current dog, Stryker.”
She says police dogs Reaper, Stryker and Gator all showed off their skills for the girls and Kaos made sure he got plenty of pats.
“We truly appreciate all that Samara has done for our Moreton community and we welcome Kitty to the team.
“No doubt there are many people who do their bit to help those less fortunate in our community and we would love to hear their stories.
“If you or someone you know goes above and beyond to make a difference, even if it is just a small difference, let us know and we would love to acknowledge their commitment to Moreton.
“Who knows, we might be able to assist you in your endeavours.”
