Tori Webb is excited about the Australian release of the Dwayne Johnson television series Young Rock, which hits our screens this weekend.
Impatient to see the results of the series – much of which was filmed around south-east Queensland, including Scarborough and Strathpine - Tori says she downloaded it ahead of its release on Foxtel on May 2.
“It’s so exciting it’s coming to Australia,” Tori says.
“Filming it was definitely one of my favourite experiences.”
Tori says she’s kept a special souvenir from the experience.
“When I finally got my script with the cast list, my name was on the same page as Dwayne Johnson’s.
“He wasn’t actually there when he filmed his part, but because it’s the same episode we’re in the same script,” she explains.
In her scene – filmed at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre - Tori plays a store clerk at a shop in a Hawaiian airport.
“It was so much fun – everyone was so incredibly lovely.
“It’s so amazing, the art department goes into so much detail when it comes to creating the decade.
“When you go the counter and there’s lollies, they had wrapped them as lollies from the ’80s.”
Tori says watching herself on screen is an odd experience, but a great learning tool.
It’s something she’s getting used to though – she spent time last year filming the web series Perfect Messy Love, which has been made into a feature film thanks to Screen Queensland, as well as two versions of the short film Boys Will Be, which is due on Amazon Prime this year.
“It was very challenging, but so rewarding,” she says of filming Boys Will Be.
“The films use the same script, but one is shot as a comedy and the other as a drama.”
